One Reason Why School Rocks

Greenlite is the name. Our band. In our beloved school ;)

Well I had been spending these days with them to rehearse for a competition, which made us won the 3rd place. We usually rehearse every Monday, but there are lots of events we perform on these days, so we practice more.

Cold Beers, Cigarettes, and The Blues

Jakarta Blues Festival
I came on Saturday, 16th of October 2010.
Nothin' but the blues.

I was there for about 6-7 hours. But the thing is I just got in the crowd of 4 performances. I heard some of the others, and they were all great. Unfortunately, I didn't get any chance to see Rama Satria and The Electric Mojos with Lance Lopez on Friday, 15th of Oct.

Well I know they don't play Blues but they were great. One of them was graduated from my school, St Ursula SHS. And the photo above is probably the only one that looks better than the others.


Soulmate
They're from Shillong, India. They're Rudy Wallang and Tipriti K. Bangar. They both sing and know how to show the magic of Blues but for me.. Tips (that's how Tipriti makes her name shorter) surely knows how to entertain people. I even still love her voice when she's screaming like.. "Aww!". Remarkable.

The S.I.G.I.T
I didn't get any good pictures of all of the members because I was in crowd and I'm not as tall as the others there. It quite irritated me but as long as I can still enjoy the music, it doesn't count as a problem. Well above is the photo of Rekti. As usual, they successfully made everyone shook their head to the beat.


Gugun Blues Shelter
Above is the pic of Gugun and Jono. Actually I got some good pics of them, but I'm not going to post all of them here. Oh man, I have no words to describe their performance. They're just too.. Awesome.

A Foreign Name?

My friend gave me a link of one of their videos in YouTube. I saw the video, and I was mesmerized.

The Tielman Brothers are actually Indonesians who live in Holland. I searched them on Wikipedia, and found out that the band was formed before The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. I mean, they were like.. awesome! Even their stage-acts are more fabulous than The Beatles. Their songs are also amazing!

Well it's quite unbelievable that actually.. the frontman of this band, Andy Tielman, has the ability to play guitar with his teeth or play it behind his body, and also some other great attractions on stages, long before Hendrix. source

It's an unfortunate for us as Indonesians, that The Tielman Brothers is still a foreign name. But I guess they're really great. Awesome.

Music Is Free

I went for Java Jazz Festival on 6th of March 2010, for free. My bro got those free tickets from somewhere.
Like I saw there, music is free.

All photos were taken by me except the last one. Oh by the way, I also saw a photography workshop by Kompas. Arbain Rambey was there, he explained about taking pictures in live performances, especially music performances with low light. Yeaa, it was good.

I don't really know about this band but I thought the singer was Imel from Ten2Five. All of the players (except the drummer) were girls.



Saw the sweetest couple on earth again yesterday, Endah 'n Rhesa.

They colaborated with Warman Nasution, he was amazing.

Contra Indigo, a talented band from Bandung, taught us to have fun go mad.

And the last performance I saw,

Sandhy Sondoro! He was awesome. The band also sounded great. See the photo above I was in front of the stage, and the it was sort of crowded. Full of professional photographers taking pictures. And I, was... the shortest one. My mom got a place to sit (the cameraman place) behind me. There were so many people, but the show was too good.

But unfortunately, I missed Gugun Blues Shelter's performance. There were about 20(?) stages there, it was so confusing.

Endah yang suaranya bagus, main gitarnya asik. Rhesa yang lucu, main bassnya juga keren banget. EndahNRhesa pasangan yang gokil. They made me think about my future husband hahaha. Isn't it fun, living with someone who also has the heart like you have? I mean, mereka sama-sama musisi. Seru ya.

Bowie yang ekspresif dan gokil banget ngedrumnya. John Armstrong yang friendly dan kocak. Gugun yang suaranya masuk banget, gitarnya yang 'menusuk' telinga tanpa rasa sakit. Aksi panggung mereka bikin orang pengen ikutan ke panggung juga, walaupun sudah lelah.

Dan, kolaborasi yang bikin orang melupakan rasa laparnya karena belum makan malam.

Jadi pengen nonton Java Jazz Festival, tapi bingung -_-
